| Mission Statement Mercy High School, a Catholic diocesan high school for young women, is committed to providing an educational experience that responds to individual needs. In the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy and their foundress Catherine McAuley, each student is challenged to grow, to realize her full potential, and to provide service to others within an atmosphere that fosters a spirit of community and compassion.
Founded by the Diocese of Norwich, Mercy gives preference in admission to young Catholic women residing in the diocese; however, enrollment is open to all who qualify regardless of religion, race, or nationality. |

It is located in a residential area of Middletown (population 43,000), near the Middlefield line and draws students from over 60 communities. It is accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges and by the State of Connecticut.
Purposes
Mercy High School offers a disciplined academic environment and a sound liberal arts background that prepare graduates for college and career pursuits. Spiritual growth is nourished by a program which integrates religious studies and experiences to encourage community spirit and service to others. Opportunities for a wide variety of extracurricular activities also contribute to the total learning experience.
Accreditation
For the fourth time, Mercy High School has been awarded full ten-year reaccreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The entire Mercy community experienced a full year of self-evaluation before the NEAS&C committee visited the school in October 2003. The NEAS&C committee's report commended the school for its growth and accomplishments over the past ten years and for excellence in all aspects of its program. |
