Welcome

The mission of the Mercy High School Counseling Department is to support young women with their academic, college/career, personal and social needs, while remaining devoted to the total Christian education of each student.

At Mercy High School, each student is cared for and supported as an individual during the college planning process. Our intentional program has a proven track record of succss: 100 percent of graduates are accepted to college, with over $6M in scholarship money awarded by their chosen schools.

Our school counselors serve the needs of students in the areas of academic, college, career and personal counseling. Each freshwoman is assigned a counselor who advises her and follows her progress throughout her four years at Mercy.

The school counseling team works with our freshwoman to establish a plan for their years at Mercy, placing students into the right classes to encourage them to grow, develop talents, and become active members of the school community.

Counselors work with students, teachers, administrators, and parents to provide the best guidance and counseling services possible. School counselors are more than willing to meet with students and parents before, during, and after the school day.

The emphasis for each year is as follows:

  • Freshwoman Year: Transition and academic adjustment to high school
  • Sophomore Year: Career exploration and academic goals
  • Junior Year: College/Career search and planning and academic progress
  • Senior Year: College/Career planning, placement, and transition, and academic success

School Counseling presents a variety of informational programs for students and their parents covering such topics as standardized tests, career choices and resources, college admission, financial aid planning, and NCAA information. Mercy High School students have access to Naviance, an online resource that is valuable in helping them plan for the future.

In our college preparatory program, our counselors aim to help Mercy High School graduates achieve their goals. We strive to give students the guidance they need to find the best place to continue their education.
