Summer Internship at Mercy

Title:  Social Media Intern to assist in the offices of Admissions, Communications and Development

Location: Mercy High School, Middletown, CT

Internship Dates: Summer. 2021

Hours:  Summertime internship – Flexible 3-5 days/week with approx. 20- 25 hours per week  

Status: Unpaid, for school credit/for experience
             If intern wishes to receive academic credit, it will be the intern’s responsibility to makearrangements with his or her school. Mercy High School will provide the necessary job description and performance review upon request.

Supervisor: Director of Communication and Public Relations

Founded in 1963, Mercy High School is a Catholic diocesan high school for young women located in Middletown, CT.  Mercy High School is committed to providing an educational experience that responds to individual needs.  A unique arrangement partners the Sisters of Mercy with the Diocese of Norwich in managing the school. Position Summary:

This internship will assist with the organizational aspects and social media activities of the Communication Department (three departments)

Responsibilities may include:

  • Preparation of materials needed for social media campaigns (Assist with the development of social media content, including content ideas, writing social copy, sourcing images)
  • Manage our engagement across all social media platforms
  • Engage with a community of fans/followers online regularly
  • Research information (including for Podcasting)
  • Working with Director to organize campaigns 

Qualifications:

  • Working toward a college degree preferably in a related field (Communications, Advertising, Public Relations)
  • Strong knowledge in running social media campaigns and engagement on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills
  • Working knowledge of digital technology, imagery, content programs and applications
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Enjoys working with middle and high school aged students
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of service and the mission of Mercy High School 
  • Video editing, IT skills a plus
