	Tech Tigers working in conjunction with the UN on Girl Up Program, present the movie “Girl Rising” on Tues. December 12^th
The United Nations is uniting girls to change the world with the Girl Up program.Girl Upsupports UN programs promoting the health, safety, education, and leadership of girls in developing countries.

Girls are powerful. When they’re educated, healthy, and safe, they transform their communities. When girls stand up for girls in need, they empower each other and transform our world. As the United Nations Foundation’s adolescent girl campaign, Girl Up engages girls to take action. Led by a community of nearly half a million passionate advocates raising awareness and funds, our efforts help the hardest to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.
As one of their outreach activities, the TechTigers Robotics Team has started a Mercy Girl Up group in conjunction with the UN. The idea is to raise awareness of the difficulties facing girls in developing countries and to try to help. Eventually, the TechTigers would like to raise enough money to buy bikes that girls in these countriescan use to get to school. Education makes such a difference.All students at Mercy are invited and urged to join them with Girl Up. The first step is to raise awareness and the TechTigers are doing that by showing the movie, "Girl Rising" after school on December 12 from 3-4:30 pm in the auditorium.
