Mercy High School students honored at Middletown council meeting

Middletown Councilman Dan Drew  presented a resolution on behalf of the city of Middletown to Mercy  High School Mock Trial Teams and their moderator, Attorney Terri Corigliano,  at the Common Council meeting Monday night in City Hall. 
 
 The Mercy High School’s Mock Trial Team captured the Connecticut State  Championship Title on Jan. 25 at the Connecticut Supreme Court in a  trial against Westhill High School of Stamford. The girls argued the  case of The State of New Justice vs. Leslie Williams in front of three  Connecticut Supreme Court Justices: Senior Justice Christine S. Vertefeuille,  Justice Richard N. Palmer and Justice Dennis G. Eveleigh. Mercy’s  prosecution team successfully convicted Leslie Williams, the town treasurer,  of the attempted murder of Robin Grant, another town servant. The three  attorneys for the prosecution were Emily Hall, a freshman at Mercy,  and Hanna Nagy and Tara Palnitkar, both Juniors at Mercy.
