HARTFORD — The last time Sacred Heart Academy and Mercy played earlier this month, no goals were scored until the 78th minute.
In the rematch Saturday, with the Class M state championship on the line, the scoreless deadlock went longer than that.
Regulation couldn’t decide the champion. Neither could two overtime periods. In CIAC championship soccer games, penalty kicks are not used. So Sacred Heart Academy, the No. 3 seed, and No. 4 Mercy shared the Class M state championship at Dillon Stadium.
